Foodporn: Just-a-Little-Crooked Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Strawberry Rhubarb Pie
Originally uploaded by Ragnvaeig.
As rhubarb is currently in season, I picked up a few stalks from the farm stand, thinking I'd make rhubarb compote, but I was distracted by a "Straight-up Rhubarb Pie." Turns out I was a little short on the rhubarb for the latter recipe, so I substituted a cup of halved strawberries. I guess that makes it "straight up" no longer.

Hey, [info]derangedferret and [info]foxxydancr: when's Rhubarbapalooza?

It has begun. we're working on our second bunch from our farm share. I need to think of some exciting things to do with it other than the apple - rhubarb compote I made a couple weeks ago.

I think I fear the rhubarb. I tried a rhubarb wine once at a winery in the "Amana Colonies" in Iowa. I don't think I've encountered as hideous a wine in my life.

Ragnvaeig, we'll have to take some Rhubarb to Pennsic and make...Rhubarb Crisp or Pie or whatever over the fire. =Then= we'll invite Runolfr over for a Dessert Soiree.

Hm-m-m...would cooked (and then cooled) rhubarb mix well into a Sissy Drink? Maybe with strawberries/cherries and Vodka or Rum? Smarriveurr, what do =you= think?

Gawd, I must have a fever....

I think rhubarb might be a little fibrous for putting into sissy drinks, but rhubarb desserts would go well with said sissy drinks.
