Stockholm/Uppsala plans
In another week, [info]smarriveurr and I will be in Uppsala via Stockholm and a layover in Helsinki. We'll be there for [info]graylion and [info]celemon's wedding (who else is going to be there for that? I know a few of you are.), so we do have some of our days booked, but we'll have some free days to explore the area.

I'd like to do the cathedral, castle, and old town in Uppsala, and if we get to Stockholm, a couple of museums there, too. Anything we shouldn't miss? Anyone we shouldn't miss? Anyone want to come museum-hopping/exploring/pubbing with us? I promise, [info]smarriveurr only bites when provoked!

Any thoughts on what you wanted to see in Stockholm? We'll be on the ground from Wed-Mon, and fairly flexible except for the wedding stuff.

There's a place in Galma Upsalla that has Mjod you can drink from a horn, but it doesn't taste great. I guess I wasn't surprised, Swedes do do the bland white sauce thing.

And in Stockholm, my favorite place was the Vasa museum.

There's my $0.02

I'd been thinking about the Vasa museum. Anything in particular that was really awesome?

I don't remember anything in particular. But my sis and I spent a good hour walking around. And if you think you'll do alot of the sight-seeing stuff, like we did, the Stockholm Card thing was great.

I did the Olso Pass when I was in Norway, and it was awesome.

the Wasa museum is highly recommended. stepping in there my jaw was bouncing off the ground for about 5 minutes. The ship is just spectacular.

That isn't actual mjöd, which is why. The real stuff is rather nice and can have considerable kick...

Can I provoke smarriveurr and point him at my students..?

It doesn't quite transfer like that... but in any given group of students, there's bound to be at least a few who'd provoke me, and they're likely the ones you want bitten... ;)

Don't forget the University museum just opposite the cathedral, Museum Gustavianum, that's where the "new" interpretation of Viking women's garb is displayed. Plus other goodies.

I'd been thinking about that (Himself was joking about rotten tomatoes). I probably ought, just to be able to say I definitely don't like it.
